Configuring DHCP Server

DHCP Server:- The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an auto configuration protocol used on IP networks. Computers that are connected to IP networks must be configured before they can communicate with other computers on the network. DHCP allows a computer to be configured automatically, eliminating the need for intervention by a network administrator. It also provides a central database for keeping track of computers that have been connected to the network. This prevents two computers from accidentally being configured with the same IP address.

Step: -1 Install server 2003 OS

Step: -2 Start >> control panel >> add and remove >> add and remove windows component >> Select network Services >> details >> select and (√) dhcp >> OK >> next >>Finish

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to copy a file from one host to another over a TCP/IP-based network, such as the Internet. FTP is built on a client-server architecture and utilizes separate control and data connections between the client and server. FTP is used with user-based password authentication or with anonymous user access.

Configuring DFS Server

Distributed File System (DFS) is a set of client and server services that allow an organization using Microsoft Windows servers to organize many distributed SMB file shares into a distributed file system. DFS provides location transparency and redundancy to improve data availability in the face of failure or heavy load by allowing shares in multiple different locations to be logically grouped under one folder, or DFS root.
Step: – 1 Install Server 2003

Step: – 2 Install Active Directory

Step: – 3 configure your system as DNS Server and make minimum 2 clients.

Step: – 4 create a folder “xyz” and share it with full permission

Step: – 5 Start >> Administrative tools >> DFS >>r/c distributed file system >> new root >> next >> next >> next >> browse >> find now >> select your computer name >> OK >> Next >>enter any name for root “xyz” >>next >> browse >> select folder which you share “xyz”>> Next >> Finish

Step: – 6 create 1-1 folder on both client pc and put some data and share it with full permission

Step:-7 Start >> Administrative tools >> DFS >> r/c distributed file system >> select “xyz” and r/c >> new link >> type any name “data01” >> browse >> select client pc data01 >> OK >> OK

Same process for other client pc

Step: – 8 on server pc start >> run >> \\Server ip\\xyz and enter
You find all data which share every pc

Configuring RIS Server

Remote Installation Services is a Microsoft-supplied server that allows PXE BIOS-enabled computers to remotely execute boot environment variables. On Windows 2003, two services are required to provide Remote Installation Services: DHCP and Remote Installation Service
RIS can be used only for clean installations and can’t be used to upgrade a previous version of Windows. A RIP rep image can contain the operating system and applications. Computers that are connected to the same network as the server and have PXE enabled, automatically start the RIS sequence.

Step:- 1 Install server 2003 OS

Step:- 2 Install Active Directory

Step:- 3 Configure Your System As DNS Server

Step:- 4 Configure Your Server As DHCP Server

Step: -5 Install Package of RIS
Start >> control panel >> add and remove >> add and remove windows component >> (√) RIS >> insert server 2003 CD >> OK>> next >> next >> Finish

Step: – 6 Insert windows XP CD

Step: – 7 Start >> administrative tools >> remote installation service >> next >> select path where you wants to save image otherwise next for default location (√) responds to client >> next >> browse >> select cd drive of path >> OK >> next >> folder name “xyz” >> next >> next >> next >> finish >> done and restart your PC

Step :- 8 In Client Side set BIOS as first boot device “network” and second boot device “hard disk”

Step: – 9 press F12 to Boot from Network

Step: – 10 enter username “administrator” password “123@Server”(server password)
